Isotopes RC Club, Philpot, Kentucky, USA

The Isotopes was founded in the early 1970's.
It all started with a small group of model airplane enthusiasts!
Legend has it that someone in this group came up with the name Isotopes. An isotope is a radioactive part of an atom. Due to this being a "radio-controlled" airplane club, the group felt that the name of a "radio-active" part of an atom would be a fitting name for the organization.

Once founded the club leased a piece of property on the southeast corner of Owensboro to establish a flying site.
The club operated "Conklin Field" till end of 2010. Due to ownership change and continuing flooding problems, the club elected to move flight operations to Reids Orchard in 2011.
"Reid Field" was used for most of 2011 until the US60 bypass extension came rolling through in September, 2011.

After much hard work and dedication of the club members, a new field was found at Lampkin Farm in Philpot, KY.
Lampkin Farm is located on a reclaimed strip mine and is home to the Daviess County Antique Farm Machinery Association.
